White Plains Hospital gears up for Hurricane Irene
With Hurricane Irene on the horizon, White Plains Hospital is making preparations to remain functioning and self-sufficient through the storm. During the storm, Ossie Dahl, an employee of White Plains Hospital, expects to be responsible for about 1,000 people, among them patients, staff and visitors. That entails making sure that there is enough food, linens and medical supplies to last them up to 96 hours. Hospital officials say they are also setting up extra beds for staff and others who will be forced to stay at the hospital rather than venture out into the storm.
