County airport shut down ahead of Irene
Westchester County Airport shut down at 6 p.m. this evening ahead of Hurricane Irene.
Despite closing at 6 p.m., many travelers who headed to the airport earlier today were met with long lines, canceled or overbooked flights. Some were trying to head home, while others were hoping to start vacations.
Flights are expected to resume at the Harrison airport at around 3 p.m. Monday. However, travelers are urged to call ahead before going to the airport.
