Residents near Hudson River secure boats

As people who live in flood-prone areas either evacuate or choose to wait out Hurricane Irene, members of the Nyack Boat Club are securing their vessels ahead of the storm.

Officials at the club say the storm surge, accompanied with strong winds from the east, could spell trouble. The club, which sits on the west side of the Hudson River, could face flooding.

As members of the club monitor the hurricane, they say they have no intention of letting a hurricane ruin their weekend.
