Officials probe electrocution of man trying to save young boy

Police and utility officials are investigating the circumstances behind the death of a Good Samaritan trying to save a young boy trapped under a downed power line in Spring Valley on Sunday.

Officials say David Reichenberg, 50, was electrocuted trying to save the boy. The boy and his father suffered serious burns as a result of the incident.

Reichenberg's family is blaming the utility company for not repairing the lines sooner.

Spring Valley Mayor Noramie Jasmin says the police contacted the Orange and Rockland Utility at 2:04 a.m. and again at 2:55 a.m.

Officials say the incident occurred at around 11 a.m.
