More Metro-North lines restored to regular weekday service

Metro-North trains were running on the Hudson, Lower Harlem and New Haven main lines this afternoon for the first time since Irene slammed the area.The entire system was shut down over the weekend in anticipation of the storm and slowly started running again yesterday afternoon.Metro-North officials say train service is running on a regular weekday schedule, even though suspensions are still in place for the New Canaan, Danbury and Waterbury branches.Commuters say they are glad most trains are running again, despite dealing with service troubles yesterday. "I was able to make arrangements with a friend of mine to take me into the city and bring me back home again," Michael Downs, of West Nyack, said.An MTA spokesperson says service has been mostly restored on the Upper Harlem Line.
