Yonkers residents hope for help after Irene
Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) today asked President Barack Obama to expedite a major disaster declaration in New York that would release money to help local communities recover from Hurricane Irene.
Yonkers residents say they desperately need the help.
"I stopped [cleaning up] yesterday, I couldn't do anything. I was so depressed," says Elizabeth Ennis, of Yonkers.
Con Edison says because of the intensity of the storm, it will sometimes have to turn power off as a precaution to protect equipment and safely get everyone back on line.
