Family, friends shocked over boating death of Cross River man

As Dr. Peter Engel's family mourns his death, more is being revealed about the man who was killed during a boating accident after Irene hit the area.

Engel, a 53-year-old psychiatrist from Cross River, was one of five experienced whitewater rafters who took a boat out for a joyride on the Croton River Sunday.

Officials say the boat capsized and although all five were rescued from the dangerous waters, Engel died soon after.

Neighbors in Cross River described the father of two as a kind, helpful and adventurous man.
