Dobbs Ferry residents chip in for July 4 tradition

Residents across the region are celebrating America's birthday with their own patriotic twist, especially in Dobbs Ferry.Every year since 1998, residents have pooled their money together to afford a July 4 picnic at Waterfront Park. Families come to the park with portable grills, and their funds pay for the fireworks and live entertainment.Town Hall says it also allots some money for the festivities.The evening is capped by a flag-raising ceremony with members of the American Legion, as well as a fireworks display.
