White Plains fire forces 6 families from homes

Twenty-six people have been displaced following an early morning fire at a multi-family building in White Plains today. According to investigators, the fire began just before 2 a.m. in the basement of the home on Robertson Avenue and quickly spread to upper floors through the chimney. They say debris inside the home and poor ventilation made it difficult for firefighters to put out the flames.

Two residents were taken to the hospital and treated for smoke inhalation, but no firefighters were hurt.
