Residents irritated over illegal fireworks display in Yonkers

People living near Kardash Park in North Yonkers are complaining about an illegal fireworks display that takes place each year, saying the noise and crowds have gotten to be too much.

According to residents, the park was littered with fireworks debris and unexploded charges after this year's show. Areas of grass were also left scorched by strings of firecrackers. Nearby residents say they wish the annual show would stop.

Yonkers police say they responded to at least two complaints about illegal fireworks at the park, but no arrests were made. They say all fireworks, excluding professional shows, are against New York State law.
