Veto override eliminates Playland's 'spectator fee'

The Westchester County Board of Legislators voted today to override County Executive Rob Astorino's (R-Westchester) veto of legislation to eliminate the spectator entrance fee at Playland Park for county residents.

Under a plan first put forward several years ago during the administration of former County Executive Andy Spano, Playland visitors pay a flat fee for the day.

For park-goers who just want to watch the kids on the rides, a "spectator fee" was set at $10 for non-residents and $5 for people living in Westchester.

The change in the Playland spectator fee for county residents takes effect immediately.
