County finishes Rye Playland lake revitalization project

A long-running project to revitalize a lake near Rye Playland has finally come to an end. Since April 2010, man-made Manursing Lake has been undergoing a multimillion-dollar facelift. The restoration included ways to control storm water pollution and improvethe ecosystem and water quality. County Executive Rob Astorino (R) said the project was vital to the region. "It has a real important aspect to the wildlife," he said. "We thought it was important to make an investment in this area." The lake was dredged in the 1920s to make the amusement park more attractive.
