Firefighter hospitalized after Harrison house blaze

An overnight house fire in Harrison yesterday left a firefighter hospitalized and the home severely damaged. Officials say the blaze broke out shortly before 11 p.m. at 57 Brown Place. Backup crews from Rye and Mamaroneck were brought in to make sure there were enough firefighters to rotate in and out given the region's current heat wave. Officials say the fire may have started somewhere near the fireplace or air conditioning unit outside the home. Flames ripped through the roof and second-floor windows. The home had reportedly been sold, and no one was living in it at the time. One firefighter was taken on a stretcher to White Plains Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and heat exhaustion. The exact cause has not been determined.
