Power back at sizzling Yonkers apartment building

The blistering heat wave gripping the Hudson Valley the past few days has been especially hard on hundreds of people living in a high rise in Yonkers.

Their power was shut off yesterday, forcing many out of their apartments to look for a spot to cool down.

The hundreds of people in the building at 85 Riverdale Ave. were without power for some 20 hours.

Con Ed says it has restored power to the building.

The utility sent out a notice warning some customers across the Hudson Valley that there would be a voltage reduction in their area because of problems caused by the heat wave.

Con Ed tells News 12 that the Riverdale Avenue outage was sparked by a cable problem between the meter and the street.
