Woman charged with harassing Harrison mayor

Harrison police have arrested a former running mate of Mayor Joan Walsh for harrassment in the case of random pizza deliveries.

Maria Polera is accused of sending dozens of unordered pizzas and chinese food to Walsh's home for the past year. Polera ran on the same ticket as the mayor two years ago, a losing effort to become receiver of taxes. Sources say Polera claims the mayor made comments about her former running mate's appearance and body odor.

Polera pleaded not guilty to one count of harassment and six counts of theft of service in Harrison town court this morning. Walsh was not at Town Hall this morning, but town attorney Bob Palidino says the mayor has denied making those remarks.

Police say it took a while to make an arrest because the person was using a device to block the number they were calling from.
