Police investigating double shooting in Mt. Vernon

Mount Vernon police are investigating a double shooting that sent two men to the hospital last night.

They say the shooting occurred in front of 310 South Fourth Ave. around 10:30 p.m.

Detectives say the two men were shot in front of the building, but were found inside when police arrived. First responders say one victim was hit in the leg, the other in the foot.

Both shooting victims are expected to survive.

Police are still investigating the reason behind the shooting.
