State inspectors ramp up safety inspections for stretch limos

State inspectors were in Yonkers today to make sure that stretch limousines are up to speed on safety.

The inspections are part of a crackdown initiated after the deadly tour bus crash on I-95 that killed 15 people in March.

Since many of the limousines seat 15 passengers, they have to undergo the same rigorous inspection that a big tour bus would.

The Cuomo administration has been cracking down on bus companies and suspended the operating licenses of eight companies Monday, citing repeated failures in safety inspections.
