Scarsdale firefighters host carnival for young cancer patients

A group of local firefighters hosted a carnival yesterday to give young cancer patients a fun-filled break from treatments and hospital tests.

The Scarsdale Fire Department put on a "Day in the Country" event so that children and families from the Manhattan Ronald McDonald House could come and enjoy time away from the city. Activities included carnival games, a bouncy castle, sprinklers, a barbecue and a trip to the pool in fire engines.

In addition to all of the food and activities donated, the community has rallied to raise more than $6,000 which will go directly back to the Ronald McDonald House.
