NFL star speaks to Peekskill students about financial responsiblity

Students at Peekskill Middle School got a surprise visit yesterday from a local NFL star. All-pro New York Giants center Shawn O'Hara hosted an assembly on finances to an audience of 400 seventh- and eighth-graders. He spoke about the importance of making smart money decisions and learning financial skills as early as possible.

"I think that when you look at our society and the world right now, debt is something people are living with on a daily basis," O'Hara said. "And one of the ways that we want to combat that is by educating our children."

O'Hara was co-captain when the Giants won Super Bowl XLII in 2008.

He is working on a book on finances geared toward younger readers.
