Rape charges dropped against Shrub Oak couple

Two suspects originally charged with raping a teenage baby sitter in Yorktown have been cleared of the most serious charges.

Frederick Portella, a Westchester County corrections officer, and Michelle Mace were charged last May with third-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child.

They were accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl baby-sitting Mace's children inside her Shrub Oak home.

The rape charges have now been dropped. Portella and Mace pleaded guilty only to harassment, a violation that carries no permanent criminal record.
