Metro-North, NJ transit offering peace on 'quiet cars'

Riders on several Metro-North lines will now have the option of riding in a more peaceful setting as new "quiet cars" are being offered for riders looking for some literal peace and quiet.

New Jersey Transit has partnered with Metro-North to bring the new cars to the Port Jervis and Pascack Valley lines, and riders already say they're happy with the plan.

Officials say that riders in the designated cars will have to turn off their cell phones, sounds on other electronic devices should be turned off, conversations should be held in a low voice, and music on headphones should be kept low enough so no one else can hear it.
