Yonkers businesses in the dark for days

Business owners in Yonkers say they're doing all they can not to lose business despite days without electricity.

A shopping center along Central Avenue, just north of Tuckahoe Road, lost power Memorial Day. The shopping center houses houses a Staples office supply store, a Laundromat and a popular Outback Steakhouse. Outback representatives estimate they have thrown out nearly $10,000 worth of food and lost about $30,000 in sales.

The outages are not expected to be resolved until next week. Store owners say that they've had similar problems every summer and the issue of a faulty electrical cable has never been addressed.

The owner of RSM Associates in Queens, the organization in charge of the shopping center, says that he does plan to repair the cable.
