Former Mayor Ernie Davis looking to recapture old seat

Former Mayor Ernie Davis, who served as Mount Vernon's mayor for 12 years, has announced that he is looking to recapture his old title and city hall.

With Davis' entry into the race, the field becomes crowded for Democrats, with a total of four candidates.

Four years ago, Davis ran against Clinton Young, another Democrat, and lost the race. Davis blames the loss on the FBI probe that took place during the last election.

The former mayor says his campaign will focus on school taxes and the city's finances, both of which he believes are in disarray.
