Playland fee could be waived for Westchester residents

The Westchester County Board is expected to override a veto from County Executive Rob Astorino (R-Westchester) that would allow Westchester residents to get into Rye Playland for free.

The board voted last week to waive the $5 admission fee for Westchester residents, but Astorino vetoed the plan, saying eliminating fees doesn't make financial sense and will end up costing more for taxpayers. However, the board insists that if more locals go to Playland for free, it will help increase revenue at other areas of the park.

The Democrat-controlled board is expected to override Astorino?s veto.
