Westchester affordable-housing fight heats up again
The Housing Right Group, the organization that originally sued Westchester County over affordable housing, now says that the county is intentionally building its affordable housing in the least desirable parts of communities.
The group also claims that the county is dragging its feet and building as slowly as possible.
The county is under a court order to construct 750 units of affordable housing in affluent, mostly white sections of the county.
A spokesman for County Executive Rob Astorino (R-Westchester) says that the county is ahead of schedule, constructing 164 units ahead of the order requiring that 100 units be built by the end of this year.
