Police: Fake cops rob motorist in Rye Brook

Police say they're searching for two men who posed as cops and robbed a motorist in Rye Brook this morning.

Authorities say the men used a white Ford Taurus with flashing red and blue lights to pull over a car on Betsy Brown Road at around 4 a.m. They say the suspects approached the vehicle and stole about $50 in cash from the two young men inside.

The phony cops are described as white males, either in their late teens or early 20s. One is said to be about 5 feet 5 inches tall with a dark beard. The other suspect is about 6 feet tall with blonde hair and a blonde goatee.

Officials say the incident follows another police impersonator in Mount Kisco last week. They say the two crimes don't appear to be connected.

Anyone with information is urged to call Rye Brook police at 914-937-1020.
