Airmont man gets 13 years for sexually assaulting 9-year-old

An Airmont man will serve 13 years in prison for sexual assaulting a young family friend whose father perished at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11.

Juan Caballero pleaded guilty to having a sexual relationship with the girl for four years, starting when she was just 9 years old.

The victim told her mother about the abuse last year, and Caballero was arrested.

Officials say Caballero got close to the girl, because he acted as a substitute father after her dad was killed.
