Local charity gives out free food in Yonkers

Hundreds of families struggling to feed their children got some much needed help as a local charity gave out free food in Yonkers yesterday.

The Living Transformation Church in Yonkers joined forces with non-profit group Feed the Children and baby food company Beech Nut to give boxes of free food to over 400 families.

Each family received a 25-pound box of non-perishable food and personal care items.

Beechnut donated the items and its goodwill celebrity spokesperson TV star Melissa Joan Hart, formerly of the show "Sabrina the Teenage Witch," was on hand to help.

Officials at Feed the Children say this is their first time in Yonkers, but say they may be back if there is a need.
