Police release surveillance photos of missing student
Police today released surveillance camera photos of a missing Edgemont college student just hours before she vanished.
The pictures show 20-year-old Lauren Spierer leaving the Smallwood Apartment Complex at Indiana University for a night out with friends. Officials also released photos of a white Chevrolet pickup truck captured twice on a security camera in the neighborhood where Spierer was last seen.
Police say the truck first appeared at 4:14 a.m. on June 3 and then again at 4:24 a.m. as it circled the block, running a stop sign. Bloomington authorities are working with the FBI in an effort to enhance the surveillance video and zero in on driver of the truck.
Other technologies being used include sonar equipment and drone airplanes to scour areas outside of the college town where the fashion major lived. Police have also begun going door-to-door as they canvas the neighborhood.
Authorities say they are not ruling out a random abduction or the possibility that Spierer may have overdosed on a combination of drugs and alcohol.
