New Rochelle special-needs students shine in the kitchen

Today was Graduation Day for some special-needs students in New Rochelle who for the past year have learned how to prepare food in the kitchen.

The program was designed to develop adaptive skills of cooking and healthy eating, as well as a career and technical path for students.

Through the school year, the students had hands-on experience with all aspects of commercial food preparation at the Don Coqui restaurant.

While the program is taken in a kitchen, the goal is to lead its students to a lifetime of success.
