Opening Day finally arrives in Ramapo

Thousands of local baseball fans headed to Rockland County tonight for Opening Day at Ramapo's new stadium.

Last-minute preparations by workers at the new Provident Bank Park got things ready for the Rockland Boulders' first home game.

However, the stadium wasn?t a homerun in everyone?s eyes. Protesters gathered outside to rally against its Opening Day ceremonies, claiming they may threaten nearby animals.

The group of people also gathered to protest the post-game fireworks. Protesters said they were concerned for the animals at the Hi-Tor Animal Shelter, which is located right behind the stadium.

Officials say an estimated 5,000 people turned out to see The Boulders snap a 3-game losing streak.
