Pharmaceutical company expanding in Ardsley

Bio-tech company Acorda Therapeutics is expanding and that means more jobs for the area.

Acorda Therapeutics has been making pharmaceuticals in Westchester for more than a decade, but when the company grew too big for its labs in Hawthorne, Acorda began looking for a new home.

New York State and Westchester County stepped in and helped put together a deal, which will let Acorda move into a new home on Saw Mill River Road in Ardsley. Their more than $6 million incentive package will let Acorda add up to 190 new workers to the current staff of 159.

The company's decision to stay in Westchester is seen as another sign that the area is becoming the bio-tech equivalent of Silicone Valley.
