Search for murder suspect in Yonkers turns up empty

A major police operation descended upon the School Street Housing Project this evening in the search for a suspect they believe shot two men at Cromwell Towers Apartments nearly a year ago.

Police suspect Ronnell Jones shot and killed two men, one a reputed street gang leader, in July 2010.

The shooting also injured four others, including a 5-year-old boy.

Police say they launched the operation, which included SWAT teams and K-9 units, due to a credible tip they received this afternoon.

After searching the building, officials called off the search, saying they found nothing.

Police say Jones should be considered armed and dangerous, and may be dressing like a woman to elude capture.
