Former Garnerville priest accused of stealing $25,000

Police have arrested a former Garnerville priest who they say stole thousands of dollars from parishioners.

An investigation by the Archdiocese last spring revealed that the Rev. Thomas Kreiser, former paster at St. Gregory's Church, allegedly racked up more than $25,000 on the church's American Express card from March until June of 2010.

Kreiser admitted to misappropriation of money back in June and was sent to a rehabilitation facility for an alleged gambling addiction.

St. Gregory's new pastor, the Rev. Joseph Lamorte, says all the parish can do now is try to heal.
