WC deli owner allegedly pilfered papers for profits

A South Salem deli owner is being accused of selling his customers second-hand newspapers that he steals from other local delis and newsstands in the area.

Bedford police say that surveillance video will show that Charles Mattiello, who owns the Salem Country Deli on Spring Street, steals newspapers from local businesses, including a local flower shop that is right next door to his deli. Bedford police say they were able to catch Mattiello in the act by setting up surveillance on local businesses and Matiello's vehicles, adding that Mattiello admitted to the thefts when interviewed by detectives.
