OC pilot lands private plane on Queens beach

Audio recordings of a Cornwall pilot executing an emergency plane landing on a Queens beach Monday have brought into question the authenticity of that pilot's emergency, with the FAA saying that if suggestions of a false emergency are true, the pilot's license could be revoked.

Jason Maloney, 24, was flying a single-engine plane when he posed a somewhat unusual question to air-traffic controllers. "Hey tower, I got a question for you. This might sound crazy, but are we allowed to land on the beach?"

Officials say Maloney notified controllers that his passenger was sick, and that he needed to land immediately, but later told police that he got the idea for the daring descent from a television program.
