Cops unsure burglary suspect is behind break-in spree

As police continue their search for a second burglary suspect wanted in connection with a foiled Yonkers home invasion yesterday afternoon, they are still unsure whether the suspect who was arrested is responsible for a rash of recent break-ins in the community.

Officials in Hastings and Yonkers say they have been trying to track down the suspect or suspects responsible for some 18 different home invasions over the past few weeks between the two communities.

Yesterday, 18-year-old Richard Ubiles, of Yonkers, was arrested after police officers spotted him and another man wearing ski masks and looking into the window of a home on Rumsey Road in the Park Hill section of the city at around 5 p.m.

Police say the crimes started in the Bryn Mawr section of Yonkers and expanded to nearby Hastings. They are urging people in those areas to keep their houses locked, even when people are inside, and to watch out for their neighbors.
