Montrose VA avoids potential closure, loss of funds

State Sen. Greg Ball announced yesterday that he has secured funding for the veteran's home in Montrose that were on the chopping block, and could've resulted in the closure of an entire wing at the facility.

"This money should never have been cut," Ball said, as he stood alongside two World War II veterans Thursday after securing more than $1 million in funding that was going to be stripped from the veteran's home. The cuts would have meant the closure of one wing at the home, and would've resulted in the loss of some 42 beds.

Local veterans, particularly those who served in WWII, the Korean War and in Vietnam, say that having the money put back into their facility helps them sleep a little better at night.
