Schumer: More than $50 million in unclaimed taxes in NY

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said over the weekend that there is more than $50 million in unclaimed tax refunds just waiting to find their rightful recipients in New York.

Schumer says that New Yorkers who do have unclaimed funds waiting for them have until April 18 to file their returns and claim the money before the government keeps it.

The unclaimed funds are due largely in part to people who did not file tax returns in 2007, or who didn't receive their refunds from last year.

Schumer reminded anyone eligible for tuition tax credits that there is some $600 million still available for recipients. For more information on the unclaimed funds, click here.
