Newburgh students head to Texas with solar cars in tow

Students at the Newburgh Free Academy are heading to Houston, Texas this week to take part in a competition against dozens of other schools in a race to conceptualize the energy-efficient vehicles of the future. The academy's Solar Racing Team spent months building their solar-powered cars for the Shell Eco Marathon this week, and are hoping for a big win.

"I've been excited for the past couple of days," said team member Daniel Stowe, one of the 17 students responsible for building and presenting the cars.

The winners of the marathon will receive $3,000. For more information on the Shell Eco Marathon, .
