Parade held for Mt. Vernon H.S. basketball team

A parade is being held in Mount Vernon today to honor a local high school basketball team that won the state championship for the ninth time.

Last month, the Mount Vernon High School boys' basketball team took the state Class AA title by beating Jamestown High School 62-51.

By winning this year's championship, the Knights also set a record for the most state titles won by a public school.

This morning, players, cheerleaders and fans lined up in front of the school for a victory parade that's taking them all through the city with stops at every school in Mount Vernon.

Team members say they're just happy they could continue their school's winning basketball tradition.

The parade will end at City Hall for a victory celebration with the mayor.
