Monroe woman revisits own tragedy after Hudson River crash

The Monroe woman whose husband killed two of her children, then himself 14 years ago says her heart goes out to the family of a woman who drove her van into the Hudson River with her kids inside.

Police say La?Shanda Armstrong drove her minivan off a boat ramp into the river, killing herself and three of her kids.

Lila Abrams says when she heard Armstrong's story, it brought back painful memories.

Abrams says her estranged husband killed himself and her young son and daughter in an attempt to get back at her for leaving him.

Abrams wrote a book about her experience called "When the Unthinkable Happens: Survival After a Family Murder." She says it was a good healing process for her.
