White Plains salon pampers military wives

Businesses are always doing what they can to help our troops, but one White Plains hair salon is catering to their families, too.

Savoir Salon joined forces with an organization called the Women's Military Connection to provide a day of pampering for nearly two dozen military wives. Manicures, pedicures, facials and new hairstyles were given to the women from Brooklyn's Fort Hamilton base with husbands overseas.

Salon owner Frank Zeccola says he got the idea from an episode of Oprah's daytime talk show, when first lady Michelle Obama suggested pampering military wives.

The Women's Military Connection says it often teams up with local businesses to host events centered on empowering women.
