Yorktown unveils plan to tear down onetime popular resort

A onetime popular resort where swing era dancers and lakeside vacationers gathered is set to be torn down.

The historic Rock Hill Lodge on Mohegan Lake was once a country getaway in the early 1900s. However, over the years the resort has been left to rot and is now overrun by trespassers. It has also become a site for drinking and drug use and is ridden with graffiti.

History buffs wanted to save the resort, but Yorktown officials decided the place will be torn down. Once the demolition is complete, officials say they will begin planning what to do with the 15-acre estate.
