Cops: Suffern bank robbery suspect fatally shoots himself

Police say the man who robbed a Suffern bank earlier this evening is dead after shooting himself. Investigators say the robbery happened at around 6 p.m. at the M and T Bank on Route 59 and Hemion Road. According to police, the man walked in wearing a surgical mask, was carrying a revolver and demanded cash.Cops say the 66-year-old Mahwah, N.J. resident fled the scene in an SUV and was chased into New Jersey. They say he was later stopped by police in Ramsey and shot himself in the chest before police were able to approach him.
