Experts: Snowy winter slowed HV home sales
Experts say that one of the snowiest winters on record may have played a role in the decline of home sales in Westchester County during the first quarter of 2011.
Statistics released by the Westchester Putnam Multiple Listing Service shows that the number of home sales in Westchester was down 5 percent during the first three months of the year, making for the lowest number since early 2009.
The median price of a single-family home in Westchester is near $553,000, a price that is down 8 percent from last year.
Experts say that even though unemployment is getting better, it will have to continue in the same direction for a sustained period before any potential homebuyers come back into the market.
