WC attorney by day is modern-day Dolittle at home

A Bronxville attorney has converted her basement into something of a make-shift wildlife sanctuary, earning her the reputation in her community as a modern-day Dr. Dolittle, nursing animals back to health simply because she loves doing so.

Lorraine Izzo says that she has been helping to heal injured or otherwise sick animals back to health, and that she'll help any kind of animal that is in distress.

Izzo, who says she hopes to start a real wildlife center someday, says that she does get help from local veterinarians, but that she's got another big helper to keep things running smoothly.

Izzo's 9-year-old son, John Dominick, helps his mother with her animal activism, helping rescue animals occasionally, or simply cleaning all of the materials his mother uses.
