Police apprehend man barricaded inside Croton hotel room

Police say they have peacefully apprehended a man who barricaded himself in a room at a hotel in the Village of Croton.

Detectives say the standoff began this afternoon at the Watergate Motor Hotel on Furnace Dock Road.

New Castle police say they were looking for the suspect since yesterday when he allegedly violated an order of protection and visited his girlfriend.

Officers say they tracked the man to the hotel where he claimed to have a gun and was threatening to hurt himself and others.

Heavily armed officers and armored trucks surrounded the hotel while officers negotiated with the man.

Police say the suspect will be charged in New Castle.
