Schumer: E-ZPass slamming drivers with hidden fees

Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) is urging E-ZPass to make changes, saying hidden fees are taking a toll on some drivers.

The senator says drivers who use the new high-speed lanes, like the ones at the Tappan Zee Bridge and on the State Thruway, can get hit with fees if their accounts have low balances.

He says drivers who use the fast line when there's a problem with their account don't realize it until after they're hit with a $25 fine for each unpaid toll.

Schumer says he wants a text message alert system that will notify E-ZPass holders when their balance is low.
