Jury continues deliberations in ex-cop's manslaughter trial
A jury will continue its deliberations for a third day tomorrow in former Eastchester police officer James Pileggi's manslaughter trial.
Pileggi is accused of acting recklessly while showing his friend a gun that went off, killing the friend. Prosecutors allege he did not take the necessary precautions to secure the weapon.
According to court officials, the jury is having difficulty deciding on the most serious count of manslaughter. Judge Barbra Zambelli sent the jury back to continue its deliberations.
If the jury can't reach a unanimous decision on the top count, it can still consider lesser counts of criminally negligent homicide or reckless endangerment.
